Do you have a business plan?

When you’re having a difficult time in business, everything can be tied back to your plan!

You might have had no plan, an unspecific plan, or have to pivot your plan, but it is one of the keys to business success.

It might sound like common sense or obvious but you’d be surprised at how much your plan can affect the trajectory of your business.

We’re going back to the basics to make sure that you can create a plan that you will stick to, gives you the results you need, and keeps you organized through the process.

DON’T PLAN TOO FAR AHEAD

You don’t want to plan out the year in advance because chances are things will change, and you will have done a lot of that work for nothing. It’s great to have an idea of where you’d like to be in a year, but the exact path can look a bit different. Instead, focus on planning for each quarter at a time (heads up, we’re coming up on Q2 – now’s your chance to build a great plan)!

ACCOUNTABILITY

Keep yourself accountable to your goals. Write them down and hang them up in your office or somewhere that you will see them every day. Do one thing that helps work towards them every day, no matter how small.

SET SMART GOALS

Going back to the ABCs of planning but make sure that you have set SMART goals. Those are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.

For example, if you want to “be consistent on social media”, you could include in your plan “post 3 times on social media per week for the next four weeks” and see where you are at that time.

Having a strong plan in place can make a big impact, don’t underestimate the power of a plan.
